Rites Committee

Dear Esteemed Members of the Rites Committee,

Some responsibilities can be measured by the number of tasks completed. Others are measured by the wisdom required to carry them. Yours belonged to the latter.

As we reflect on the celebration of the life of our beloved husband, father and brother, Pa Ndambi Paul Angemba, we are deeply grateful for the remarkable role you played in guiding our family through every traditional rite with dignity, wisdom and honour.

You accepted one of the most delicate assignments of the entire funeral. It required knowledge of our customs, respect for our elders, sensitivity to different expectations and, above all, the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Every stage demanded discernment, and time after time, you rose to the occasion.

There were moments when the path ahead seemed uncertain. Expectations had to be managed. Difficult conversations became necessary. Yet, rather than allowing these moments to become obstacles, you met them with calmness, patience and wisdom. Your promptness in responding to emerging issues gave our family confidence, and your thoughtful handling of every situation opened doors that allowed each programme to move forward smoothly.

One by one, the traditional responsibilities entrusted to you were fulfilled with excellence.

The Ango Kii rites were conducted with the respect and honour they deserved, ensuring that every obligation was satisfactorily settled.

Then came the celebrations that filled our compound with colour, music and the unmistakable beauty of our culture.

The Okani Dance, proudly presented with six heads, stood as a powerful expression of unity and honour.

The Muswe Dance, led by Daddy Ndambi Ephraim, reminded us of the richness of our traditions.

The Mukonge Dance, brought by Dr Oghai, added its own unique beauty to the celebration.

The women of Oshie, coordinated by Pst Ndaya, danced with grace and dignity, reflecting the strength and warmth of our community.

The Echibi Dance from Tinechong-Ngie, through the efforts of Dr Njomaso Apha, brought yet another treasured cultural expression that enriched the occasion.

Finally, the vibrant Ngyen-mbo Dance, led by Lady Nimino Maforh, completed a remarkable display of heritage that many present will remember for years to come.

Each performance was far more than entertainment. Together, they told the story of a man who was loved, respected and celebrated by his people. They reminded all who attended that while we mourned a beloved husband, father and brother, we were also honouring a life deeply rooted in family, culture and community.

The Ose'h ceremony was successfully completed, marked by the slaughtering of a large pig in accordance with our cherished traditions, a fitting expression of respect for our heritage and those who have gone before us.

We recognise that much of what you accomplished required long hours, numerous consultations and countless acts of service that few people will ever fully know. Yet God knows. Our family knows.

Please accept our heartfelt gratitude for standing with us during one of the most significant moments in our family's history.

Thank you for protecting our traditions without losing sight of compassion.

Thank you for honouring our heritage while helping us celebrate Dad's remarkable life.

Thank you for turning challenges into breakthroughs and responsibilities into lasting memories.

May the Lord richly reward your wisdom, strengthen your families and continue to establish the work of your hands. May He preserve our cultural heritage through men and women like you, and may the honour you have shown our family return to your own households in multiplied blessings.
